Turmeric and Cardamom Hot Toddy

We got a last chance snow storm today before spring, so it’s a perfect day for a delicious warm health tonic. If you use coconut milk in it, it’s a rich, creamy drink that both fills you up and warms you up. I’m a huge snacker – I could eat all day long. But I noticed that when I drink coconut milk based drinks I don’t crave anything  for a long time after. You can’t argue with the long list of health benefits of full- fat coconut milk. This toddy is quick and simple to make – just throw as many of the spices you have together in non-milk. Your body will thank you for giving it the good spices it needs to fight inflammation – like turmeric, ginger, cloves, cayenne and cinnamon.

1 cup almond or cashew milk
2 tablespoons  full-fat canned coconut milk
1/4 cup water
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp cinnamon
A dash of cayenne pepper
5 cloves
5 peppercorns
Minced ginger

Heat liquids and honey on medium heat. Put any solid spices in a tea strainer to infuse. Add ground spices to milk mixture.
